When Martina first stepped into a front-of-house role, she brought with her the values of loyalty and kindness — traits that would become the foundation of a thriving career. Now a Front of House Supervisor at Rapport, her journey is a powerful example of where dedication, support, and self-belief can take you.
Built on Strong Foundations
Growing up in Italy, Martina looked up to her parents as her role models. Her parents are respected for their integrity and hard work, and that same commitment to excellence emerged early in Martina’s life. As a young volleyball player, she never missed a training session, even when unwell, and always gave 100%. Her dedication paid off when, at just 14, she was called up to play in Italy’s national championship with the highest-level team — competing alongside players nearly twice her age.
A People-Person at Heart
Martina’s career began in hospitality, working as a hotel receptionist in Italy while studying at university. Although she later took on a customer service role for a cruise company in the UK, something was missing.
“I realised how much I prefer face-to-face interaction. Connecting with people directly is what I am passionate about, which is why I moved to reception again.”
That passion led her back to guest services and to a role that would set her on a new career path.
Finding Her Place at Rapport
Martina joined Rapport in October 2022, TUPE’ing into the business while maintaining her role as a corporate receptionist. From the beginning, she stood out for her professionalism, warmth, and positive attitude.
In just under a year, her potential was recognised when she was promoted to Reception Team Leader in August 2023. By January 2025, she had progressed again, this time to Front of House Supervisor for a different contract within Rapport. Martina now leads a team of three and manages a wide scope of operations for a key Rapport client.
Leading with Heart and Confidence
An important part of Martina’s growth at Rapport is due to the culture of Learning & Development, particularly the Propeller and Lead the Way programmes.
“Thanks to these programmes, I was able to learn new things like how to approach challenging situations or how to be a better support for my colleagues. I was also able to create connections with other Rapport team members from other sites.“
A Culture of Support and Belief
Throughout her journey, Martina has been supported by a network of colleagues who championed her growth. especially her first manager, Daria, who saw her potential from day one.
“Daria has always been my biggest support here in Rapport. Since day one she believed in me and supported me even when I had my ups and downs. She helped me to believe in myself and to stop thinking I am not enough for the role, because if I have arrived here, it means that I am doing a brilliant job.”
That same culture of encouragement extended to her current team, who welcomed her with open arms and continue to work collaboratively under her leadership.
Advice to Fellow Ambassadors
To those starting out in corporate reception, guest services, or front of house roles at Rapport, Martina has a clear message:
“Attend the programmes that Rapport is offering. They are really helpful, not only in your work life, but personal life as well. They will help you grow and direct you to your goals. I highly suggest you join these programmes if you want to progress. It is a great chance to learn, grow your skills, meet new colleagues and learn from them too.”
Martina’s story is a reminder that with the right mindset, the right support, and a company that believes in its people, career progression is more than possible.
